I grew up in a small village in Austria and remember running across meadows with my friends, picking the first flowers in spring, finding fox holes, climbing trees to eat apples and cherries, bobsledding down the hills in winter  – it was a childhood with toys we made ourselves, where creativity came natural and a freedomat an early aage that is hard to find nowadays.  

It is easy to see, why I want to bring this old world charm back into today’s life. It is my goal to recapture the innocence of childhood by creating everlasting moments in a serene outdoor setting. To combine a nostalgic feeling and longing for this kind of growing up in every picture I take, while bringing out the individual character of each child I have before my camera. It is a goal to let them forget that I am there, ready to take an image that becomes an everlasting moment.

When I moved to San Francisco, photography and hand-coloring soon became a passion when my children were born. I wanted to capture their little steps and catch their personalities and by adding subtle colors to a black & white photo I could bring all of this back on a piece of paper. Now my children have many hand-colored photos, each one a precious moment that will remind them of their earliest years. 

When my children grew bigger, I wanted to give other families the treasure of these memories as well and started my own business. Soon I was photographing all around the Bay Area. This resulted in the publication of many of my photos on cards, calendars and posters. My hand-colored black & white photography of children could be found throughout America and was been marketed in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. 

After spending many years in California, I moved back to Austria, to a setting that had not changed very much from the days of my childhood. The meadows are still here and so is the old house, the garden with peonies, roses, herbs, lavender and trees. And my children had the wonderful experience of creating their own childhood memories, very similar to mine.

But as life goes, I got remarried to a wonderful man. took his name and moved to Houston, Texas. Photography has gone through an incredible change. Hand coloring is now done on the computer. To be honest - it is not the same. The smell of oil paints, the exciting moment when a child's face comes 'alive' has been changed forever through new technology. I went back to school to keep up with the changing times and earned an Associates Degree in Digital Communication. My children have grown and I get to travel a lot nowadays. But the desire to hand color on paper is still there and I am researching papers at the moment that can be used 'the oldfashioned way', by combining the new digital technology with the old art of hand painting on paper.
